“The Bold and the Beautiful” Receives Three Nominations for the
42nd Annual NAACP Image Awards

January 19, 2011…Los Angeles, CA…Actors Aaron D. Spears and Rodney Saulsberry have been nominated in the category of Outstanding Actor in a Daytime Drama Series and actress Yvette Freeman has been nominated in the category of Outstanding Actress in a Daytime Drama Series for the 42nd Annual NAACP Image Awards for their work on THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL (B&B), it was announced by the NAACP.

Aaron D. Spears portrays “Justin Barber”, a father, husband, and executive vice president of Spencer Publications, a major magazine conglomerate.  Spears joined the cast of B&B in September of 2009.

Rodney Saulsberry plays “Anthony”, a homeless musician whose heartbreaking life story of living on the streets makes a positive impression on “Brooke Logan” (played by original cast member Katherine Kelly Lang). Saulsberry joined B&B in October of 2010.

Yvette Freeman plays “Dr. Lewis”, an oncologist who treats a hopeless cancer patient, “Stephanie Forrester” (played by Emmy®-Award winner and original cast member Susan Flannery), and takes a personal interest in her fight by encouraging her to seek treatment.  Freeman has portrayed “Dr. Lewis” on B&B since November 2009, when she played a key role in the story arc of the death of “Ann Douglas” (played by Betty White).

“We are elated by the nominations for all three actors,” said Executive Producer and Head Writer Bradley P. Bell. “They delivered powerful performances in pivotal story arcs. I am proud that they are a part of THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL family.”

These nominations are a first for all three performers, but total 11 NAACP Image Award nominations received by B&B throughout the show’s 23 year-run.  In 1993, the late William J. Bell was nominated, and won, in the category of Outstanding Daytime Drama Series. In 1999, Usher was nominated in the category of Outstanding Actor in a Daytime Drama Series for his role as “Raymond”, as was Antonio Sabato, Jr. in 2005 and 2006 for his role as “Dante Damiano”, Mykel Shannon Jenkins in 2008 for his role as “Charlie Baker”, Dan Martin in 2009 for his role as “Lt. Baker”, and Texas Battle in 2010 for his role as “Marcus Walton”.

The NAACP Image Awards honors projects and individuals that promote diversity in the arts in television, recording, literature, and motion pictures. The 42nd Annual NAACP Image Awards will broadcast live on Friday, March 4th (8:00 – 10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

On June 27, 2010, THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL won the Emmy® for “Outstanding Drama Series” for the second consecutive year at the 37th Annual Daytime Entertainment Emmy® Awards.  On June 10, 2010, THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL was the recipient of the Golden Nymph Award at the International TV Audience Awards in the “Telenovela/Soap Opera” category at the Monte Carlo Television Festival awards ceremony, confirming that in its genre, with an estimated 35 million daily viewers in more than 100 countries, and for the fifth consecutive year, it remains the most watched series in the world.

THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL, which will celebrate its 24th anniversary on Wednesday, March 23, 2011, is a Bell-Phillip Television production, broadcast weekdays (1:30-2:00 PM, ET; 12:30-1:00 PM, PT) on the CBS Television Network and is the first and only daytime drama to simulcast in Spanish utilizing SAP (Secondary Audio Program) technology.
